What’s so special about an Orthodontist? From Barbre Orthodontics

"Dentists, Orthodontists, they're all the same right?" At Barbre Orthodontics we hear our patients asking this question as they wonder about the difference between an orthodontist and a dentist. Before becoming an orthodontist Dr. Barbre started out in dental school and earned a DDS (dental degree), just like your dentist. After dental school however, Dr. Barbre decided he wanted to learn more about orthodontics, which is one of nine specialties within the dental field. So he stayed in school for a few more years and became an expert in orthodontics; which focuses on tooth and jaw alignment and bite problems like overbites and under bites.

Other dental specialties you may have heard of include endodontic (focusing on the soft tissue inside your teeth), periodontic (focusing on the gums and other tissues surrounding your teeth) and prosthodontic (focusing on restoring and replacing damaged teeth).

Isn't it nice to know there's a dental expert here to help you through any type of treatment your teeth, jaw and gums might need?

Is Invisalign® Really Customized for Each Patient? Dr. Barbre Explains

Yes, it is, and that’s part of what makes it work. To find out if you are the right candidate for Invisalign treatment, the first thing we do at Barbre Orthodontics is to take an impression of your teeth as they are now and digitize it. Using special software, we look at the current positioning of your teeth and compare it to the way your teeth should look.

Next we use special software to map out the exact path your teeth will take from the beginning of your treatment to the end. Based on the results, a set of custom aligners are created just for your teeth. Throughout the course of treatment, you will be required to wear these clear, removable aligners one at a time; each one moving your teeth closer and closer to their final, perfectly aligned position. And since the aligners are virtually invisible, nobody around you will even know you are wearing braces!

Dr. Barbre is a certified Invisalign provider. If you have questions about Invisalign, or would like to find out if you are a candidate for Invisalign treatment, give us a call at 682-622-8678.

Patient Reviews for Dr. Barbre!

For the second post on our new blog, we thought we would share a few of our favorite patient reviews of Barbre Orthodontics!

The staff is always very friendly and helpful, and they are flexible and promp with our appointments. We love the service they offer, for example: Financial assistance plans, one line payment options and the appointment reminders. ~ Racquel W.

I really love how oriented Dr. Barbre and the staff are with adults and children. I love how thorough everyone is with their explanations. I like the fact that he trusts his patients enough to have in house financing with no finance charges, I can't tell you how much that has helped me out. I won't take my family anywhere else. ~ Hayden T.

Dr. Barbre is a nice guy. Down to earth. Treats me like a person, not just another patient. The staff is also wonderful. Very helpful in answering any questions I might have. Virtually no waiting. I barely get a chance to sit down and my name is called. Very professional office. ~ Robert H.

Dr. Barbre was extremely patient and understanding of my needs for my child. It was like he read my mind; I wanted my child to look and feel better about his teeth without it costing a fortune!! ~ Dylan R.

Meet Dr. Barbre

Hello, my name is Dr. Raymond Barbre and welcome to my blog. I practice as an orthodontist in Arlington and Mansfield, Texas.

I am committed to providing state-of-the-art care for my patients and stay up-to-date by attending continuing education courses throughout the year. I am a member of numerous professional associations including the American Association of Orthodontists, the Texas Dental Association, the Fort Worth Dental Study Club, and the Arlington Dental Study Club.

I attended the University of Texas San Antonio Dental School and graduated as valedictorian. I then continued on to earn my orthodontic degree from Baylor College of Dentistry, one of the top orthodontic residency programs in the nation.

When I am not making patients smile, you can find me enjoying the great outdoors, doing anything from fishing and boating to sports and grilling up my favorite foods. When it is time to relax, you can find me dining at Eddie V’s or watching SportsCenter at home. I have been practicing orthodontics in Arlington since 1988 and live in the area with my wife and two children. I like to stay active in the community schools, so I coach teams in Arlington and Mansfield and am involved with various extra-curricular school activities.
